Mafia Wars Bangkok

For decades, the Japanese Yakuza and Chinese Triads have battled for control over the lucrative criminal markets of Thailand. You can choose who you wish to ally with as you progress through Bangkok's gritty underworld, unlocking progressively stronger weaponry with your chosen faction but gaining increasing hatred from the opposition.

December 9th, 2009 - Bangkok announced.
December 18th, 2009. Bangkok's release date changed from "Holiday 2009" to "January 2010".
Players were required to find the three items pictured on the right to be eligible for the Thai Passport.
January 22nd, 2010 - Bangkok released in Beta. Zynga selected a small number of players who each had the three prerequisite items; they were each given four Thai Passports: one for themselves, and three others to send to their friends.
January 28th, 2010 the doors to Bangkok Beta were opened to everyone. Passports are dropped in Bangkok jobs, purchasable for 30 RP, or obtained by talking to the clerk. (once every 8 hours). You can also post a request on your news feed, asking mafia members to gift you a passport.
February 5th, 2010 - Bangkok opened fighting, two new businesses, 4 new achievements and all episodes available to unlock. (NB: Episode 5 is split into two parts based on your faction)

Cash Businesses

There are 6 new businesses associated with Bangkok (at least so far). Out of these, four of them are accessible right away, and the other 2 are unlocked by gathering Triad and Yakuza faction. I covered the Yakuza and Triad businesses in a previous post. See that post for information on those two businesses.

Back on track, the other four businesses are purchasable right away (if you have the cash), and, much like Moscow, these businesses all produce Baht (Bangkok currency) every 3 hours. With that said, here is the business list, the cost for upgraded, and the amount of time it will take to get your money back:

Fighting Fish Arena:

Cost to take over: B$12,500

Fish Types:

Betta (starter): B$4 each
Trey Krem: B$5 each, costs B$3,200 to upgrade
Plakat Cheen: B$6 each, costs B$4,500 to upgrade
Plakat Khmer: B$7 each, costs B$6,300 to upgrade
Plakat Morh: B$8 each, costs B$8,800 to upgrade (final)

Cost to upgrade capacity and output:

Note: Capacity starts at 800 and increases 160 per upgrade until 2240 is reached; output starts at 100/3 hours and increases 20 per upgrade until 280 is reached. There are 9 total upgrades for capacity and output and the cost for capacity and output are always the same. This holds true for all businesses.

Upgrade 1: B$1,600 (each)
Upgrade 2: B$2,100
Upgrade 3: B$2,700
Upgrade 4: B$3,500
Upgrade 5: B$4,600
Upgrade 6: B$5,900
Upgrade 7: B$7,700
Upgrade 8: B$10,000
Upgrade 9: B$13,100

Final Stats:

Output: B$17,920 each day (24 hours).
Total Cost: B$137,700
Time to recover investment: 7.68 days (this indicates the amount of time it will take for your initial investment to be repaid so you can start making a profit)

Strategy: Buy this right away, this is a good investment and will have paid itself back very shortly.

Cockfighting Pen:

Cost to take over: B$50,000

Game Cock Types:

Spangled Cock (starter): B$6 each
Gray Pullet: B$7 each, B$9,600 to upgrade
Red Cockerel: B$9 each, B$13,400 to upgrade
Blue Thai Stag: B$10 each, B$18,800 to upgrade
Golden Bullstag: B$12 each, B$26,300 to upgrade (final)

Cost to upgrade output and capacity:

Upgrade 1: B$4,800 (each)
Upgrade 2: B$6,200
Upgrade 3: B$8,100
Upgrade 4: B$10,500
Upgrade 5: B$13,700
Upgrade 6: B$17,800
Upgrade 7: B$23,200
Upgrade 8: B$30,211
Upgrade 9: B$39,200

Final Stats:

Output: B$26,880 each day (24 hours).
Total Cost: B$409,100
Time to recover investment: 15.22 days

Strategy: Still pretty good.. just over 2 weeks to pay the initial investment back. Buy this after upgrading the Fish Fighting Arena.

Tourist Guide Scam:

Cost to take over: B$150,000

Scam Types:

College Student (starter): B$10/each
Honeymooner: B$12/each, B$25,600 to upgrade
Family: B$15/each, B$35,800 to upgrade
Businessman: B$17/each, B$50,200 to upgrade
Celebrity: B$20/each, B$70,200 to upgrade (final)

Cost to upgrade output and capacity:

Upgrade 1: B$12,800 (each)
Upgrade 2: B$16,600
Upgrade 3: B$21,600
Upgrade 4: B$28,100
Upgrade 5: B$36,600
Upgrade 6: B$47,500
Upgrade 7: B$61,800
Upgrade 8: B$80,300
Upgrade 9: B$104,000

Final Stats:

Output: B$44,800 each day (24 hours).
Total Cost: B$1,094,200
Time to recover investment: 24.4 days

Strategy: Getting expensive here; I figure Bangkok will go live tomorrow (during the maintenance), and if not, within the next few days after. At that point, within the next 2-3 weeks, episodes 3 and 4 will be released. Episodes 3 and 4 are likely to offer more $B per energy point (just like with Moscow), so if you spend all your money now and have not recouped it by the time Episodes 3 and 4 are released, you will be out $B and progress.

If you have already finished episodes 1 and 2 and upgraded the first two businesses, I would recommend buying it. If not, I'd focus on using my money to finish the first two episodes (and upgrading the first two businesses).

Gambling Den:

Cost to take over: B$350,000

Game Cock Types:

Gao Gae bet (starter): B$20 each
Poker bet: B$25 each, B$96,000 to upgrade
Jubmoo bet: B30 each, B$134,400 to upgrade
Bridge bet: B$35 each, B$188,200 to upgrade
Pok Deng bet: B$40 each, B$263,400 to upgrade (final)

Cost to upgrade output and capacity:

Upgrade 1: B$48,000 (each)
Upgrade 2: B$62,400
Upgrade 3: B$81,100
Upgrade 4: B$105,500
Upgrade 5: B$137,100
Upgrade 6: B$178,200
Upgrade 7: B$231,700
Upgrade 8: B$301,200
Upgrade 9: B$391,400

Thanks to Chris for the data here!

Final Stats:

Output: B$89,600 each day (24 hours).
Total Cost: B$4,105,200
Time to recover investment: 45.8 days

This is by far the most expensive business and will have the lowest return on investment. I have not completely upgraded it so I do not have the numbers for it yet. The only circumstance under which you should buy this business is if you have already finished Episodes 1 and 2 and if you have already upgraded the earlier businesses.

Strategy

In most situations, you want to upgrade these businesses (at least the first 3) as soon as you can. They pay themselves back in a relatively short time. While I know that capacity adds on a lot of costs to the business, I like to upgrade capacity fully because there are indeed times when things come up in real life and I can't play for a 24 hour period.

At any rate, I hope there are more businesses added with later episodes. Just think about this - if you have all four $B producing businesses fully upgraded, you will earn $B179,200 a day. The Yakuza Assassin (from the faction store) costs $B480,000 a piece; the current businesses fully upgraded only earn enough $B to purchase a one of these armors every 2 and a half days!

Mafia Wars Bangkok FAQ

Due to popular demand, I have put together a frequently asked questions guide so that you can have a fast reference sheet for all your Mafia Wars Bangkok questions.

When will Mafia Wars Bangkok be available for everyone?

Not sure; they promised to have it out by the end of the month, but the month is rapidly ending. A recent statement suggested that it won't be released until it is completely bug free. On the other hand, it will be available "soon" according to their Facebook page.

Do I pick Triads or Yakuza?

See the Triads or Yakuza post for an in-depth explanation on the differences between siding with the Triads or the Yakuza.

What kind of new loot is there?

- Triad or Yakuza specific loot can be found in the Triads vs Yakuza post (linked above).
- Faction store loot pieces can be found in the faction post.
- Store loot pieces can be seen in the new loot post.
- New job mastery rewards can be found in the Bangkok Job Mastery Reward Items post.
- New Bangkok Collections and Boosts

My special energy pack no longer works. Where can I get the Mafia Wars Toolbar; the link disappeared. Help?

You can re-download the toolbar at http://toolbar.zynga.com. If you have it installed and it does not work, try re-installing or using a different internet browser. A lot of people have reported that re-installing has fixed this problem.

Alternatively, I found a solid post by a guy named Arun detailing how you can get the mini energy pack without the toolbar. Here's how:

1. Log into Facebook.

2. Go here: http://toolbar.zynga.com/game_iframe_proxy.php?playing=true

3. Click "log in" and allow whatever you need to to get to the next screen. If you don't get a log in screen, you've already done this before; proceed to step 4.

4. Go here: http://toolbar.zynga.com/click.php?to=mwgamestatsplaynow

5. The end!

It probably won't work for long, but enjoy in the mean time.

I need money; help?

Covered in the Earning Baht post.

When will Mafia Wars Compendium be updated for Bangkok?

Soon after Bangkok's live release. I need for Bangkok to move out of beta and into the live version before making any major decisions or revisions.

I hear Bangkok loot is not tradeable? Is this true?

Yes, currently, Bangkok loot is not tradeable. However, the game is in beta. When beta is lifted, I am guessing that trading will open up.

However, it is unlikely that items from the faction store will be tradeable. I am guessing that the two high-end armor pieces will remain best in slot after the release of later episodes. I am also guessing that the other pieces in the store will not be as good as loot drops, so you will only have 2 out of 6 best in slot pieces that are untradeable.

I do not think this will be a big deal because once robbing and fighting are introduced to Bangkok, I'm betting players will be able to earn tons of $B. Remember that in other cities you can win $65,000 per fight, which means that you could end up with quite a few extra armor pieces by emptying out a 100-point stamina bar.

Declare War

Some of mafias still blur about this. What is it exactly??? Here is Zynga definition about this new feature.

Well, some people do not like the ideas of attacking their friends. But we should remember, that is it only a game called "Mafia Wars". We will experience mafioso's life here and Declare War is one of a good example. Don't be too surprised if one of your mafia family do betrayal on you!

Apparently, you can only be in one war at once. Assisting in wars as a friend or as Top Mafia doesn't count in this.

Its better to 'Call for help' or publish that you need help with this. Else, the opponent can get more help from his friends and beat the daylights outta you. Calling for help also gives your mafia a chance to get a lil free XP.

You get XP when you participate in wars even if you lose, I think it ranges 1-6 XP. No stamina or health is lost when you attack the players who are at war and their Top Mafia. Its just a friendly feature. However, you lose stamina and health when you attack players who are not directly involved, but are just helping in wars.

The feature is still not fully functional. So, not everyone can 'declare war' successfully. It says "Thank you for trying out Declare War. Soon everyone will be able to start their own War."

I'll give you how to make your own Declare War soon. Got to go now.. enjoy this new feature, mafias!!!

Warning About Free GodFather Points!

Mayday... mayday...

This is an alert for you who want to earn free GodFather point from clickin' one link. I receive warning from my mafia family members about this matter.

"Okay here is the useful thing I have for today... Zynga is now building in "trap codes" into FREE GODFATHER POINT links. If you click the link trying to get free points ZAP your MW account is GONE. These points are worth $.23 EACH to Zynga... They are going to protect them... Not worth it...."

I dunno whether it is true or not. I don't wanna try it, you know
Just be careful, mates.. play safe!

Beware of Swindlers In Mafia Wars!

I was sooooo mad tonight because I was deceited by one scam!

I lost 55 of TNTs for nothing!!! Feel so stupid..

Here is the story...

I went to one forum for trading loots and saw his message that he offers one ROULETTE WHEEL from Lotto Collections. I rapidly reply his post and ask him to add me. Few hours, he wrote me a message and we're agree to trade 1 wheel with 55 TNTs.

I was thinking that I am so lucky to have such nice trade, so cheap and finally could fill in the empty space on my lotto collections.

I was too happy and forget about my rule of trading : "You send first and I'll follow!"

I send those TNTs and while processing we're sending messages to each other.

See this pic below.. (click to enlarge)

I can see his pic in messages when his account is still active. Those blank pics above happen when he somehow disable the account (don't know how).. I even thank him, silly me..

After finished sending, I realize that I haven't received from him yet. I wait and refreshing my MW page in hoping that I could see the Roulette Wheel is coming! But that won't be happen and his FB link is just disappear.. I can't send him message, I can't do a thing!

Then I did googling by putting his name on the search engine and found the link of forum explaining about this scam!

Beware of Swindlers!!!

I found out that it is a fake account and after obtaining our loots, he directly send them all to his primary account! So it's no use to attack him, punch him, even reporting him to Zynga!

If you still curious about this guy, then you can do this :
~ Click here to View his profile
~ Click here to go to his Mafia profile and teach him a lesson.

Well, I hope you guys could learn from my experience. If you find somebody offers for lotto piece(s), beware!!! Make sure that it is not a scam in any ways. You figure out the ways to make you sure that it is a safe trade for you. I know that you're smarter than me!

Anyway, this is just a game that I love so much! Will continue playing with a verrrry careful ways in trading... Goodluck, guys!

Your Mafia Wars Character

This is a very first basic on Mafia Wars game.. but there are some of you who sent me email asking about this. So here you go..

There are three basic character types in Mafia Wars :

The Mogul character type has increased cash flow with cash coming in every 54 minutes instead of every hour. A mogul is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Bagman. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Bagman in a friend's mafia you have the chance to earn double the money from performing jobs.

The Maniac character type has increased energy regeneration with a new energy point being awarded every 3 minutes instead of every 5 minutes. A maniac is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Button man. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Button man in a friend's mafia you have the chance to automatically win any fight that you initiate.

The Fearless character type has increased health regeneration. A Fearless character is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Wheelman. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Wheelman in a friend's mafia you have the chance to complete jobs without spending any energy.

Changing your character type:

Changing your character type is not an available option. If you would like to change your character type you will need to reset your character and start over.

Resetting your character:

Unfortunately we are unable to manually reset your character. A reset is possible, however it can only be achieved by removing the application for a 90 day period.

If you re-install the application at any time during this 90 day period, the time frame will automatically restart. After the 90 day period is over your character will be deleted, which will allow you to start over.

So don't leave your game idle for 3 months.. you have to start over!

Changing your character's name:

The Godfather will grant you a name change for 15 Godfather points. You can take him up on this offer by paying a visit to the Godfather page.
I have wrote about how to create your unique mafia name here.

Obtaining and Setting your character's title:

Each job tier has its own title and each level of job mastery has its own rank. To obtain a new title you will need to master ALL of the jobs on that tier level. You can then set your title by going to your profile page.

I know now that new players don't have a choice anymore of choosing their characters. It's random by the game.

And I hope all those infos can help you understand about your character issues..

Have a great day!

Facebook's New Privacy Settings: 5 Things You Should Know

Following through on plans announced a few months ago, Facebook is rolling out changes on Wednesday to its privacy settings intended to make them simpler to adjust and understand by its 350 million end users.

However, Facebook will still let users exclude themselves from being found via Facebook's search engine and via external search engines like Google. People will also be able to limit who sends them messages and friend requests to friends and friends of friends.

There are some scams and hackers who take advantages about this changing. Because our privacy will be seen by other people even they are not FaceBook users. Here are five privacy issues you should know about as these settings roll out across Facebook :

1. Search Settings

When I checked my search settings this morning, the option to index my profile by public search engines had been turned on. This is despite the fact that I had explicitly turned off this setting when Facebook launched public search listings two years ago. If you don't want search engines like Google to index your profile, do yourself a favor and make sure those settings are still set the way you want them to be.

To adjust your search privacy settings click on Settings>Privacy Settings>Search. If the "Allow indexing" box is checked, then search engines will be able to index your information.

2. Hyper Control

While Facebook is taking away some control over publicly available information, you are getting extreme control over other parts of your Facebook profile. Now you can restrict who sees your shared content on a per-post basis. Don't want certain friends to see your latest update? No problem. Need to keep those photos of you at the bar away from your co-workers? You can do that, too.

The "everyone" option means the information is available to anyone on the Internet, even if they're not logged into FaceBook and can be indexed by external search engines. So if you want to keep your profile discreet, just change the setting to "Only Me".

3. Friends List

Although your friends list is technically set by FaceBook, you can still control who sees it. But controls for this information are found on your Facebook profile page - not your privacy settings. If you want to restrict who sees your friends list within FaceBook, click on the pencil icon next to your Friends widget below your profile picture, and uncheck the box that says "Show my friends on my profile." Or there is also option to "Always Show These Friends", etc..

Other information you can remove from your profile page includes your gender and current city.

4. Password Protection

Facebook has added a new layer of protection for changing your privacy settings. Under the new policy you will have to enter your password whenever you want to change your privacy settings. This is a smart move, and quite a common policy with other Web services.

But in my tests, this extra protection did not work very well at all. Once I had chosen to exclude my Facebook profile from public search engines, I left my privacy settings page and returned to my profile (your settings are saved automatically). But when I went back to my privacy settings, the pages were wide open with no password requirement. I tested this out on several browsers and operating systems, I also signed out and back in several times to see if that would change anything. But each time I checked my security settings were wide open. The password protection eventually came back after half an hour or so, but that was far too long. The password requirement should come back automatically or Facebook should be telling you that this setting is set to time out.

5. PAI Changes
Facebook is also changing what it deems to be publicly available information (PAI).

As it indicated in October, Facebook is also making some basic profile information publicly available, including name, profile picture, gender, current city, networks, friend list and promotional "Pages" a user is a fan of. The idea is to make it easier for people to find friends, especially those with common names.

well, I will discuss more about setting your FaceBook so it will not be easy for loot thiefs to get into your account on another post.. see ya!

Mafia Wars Toolbar

So, Zynga releases Mafia Wars Toolbar now.. and it's for FaceBook users.

If you want to install this toolbar, you can find the link on your Home page on the game.. (it's randomly appear) or go to this site :

How To Install Mafia Wars Toolbar

Follw these instructions :

Go to this site : http://toolbar.zynga.com/install/mw/

It's only work on Internet Explorer version 7+ and Mozilla Firefox version 2+. I used Google Chrome and got this error message of Unsupported Browser.

So I changed my browser and here is the next step :

Connect using your FaceBook login.

Click on the Install button.

And if you succeed, you'll have this message :

Also check your inventory and find this special armor!

Hmm, I don't know about the effect of installing this toolbar. I mean if you're using tools or bookmarklets. But I want to collect the item and just install it.. follow me if you want to..

Best Tips & Strategies For Playing Mafia Wars

When first playing Mafia wars there is a chance to choose which Mafia characteristic you would like, these come in three forms mogul which make money faster, maniacs who recovery energy faster and fearless who regain health quickly.

Since the game is entirely based around energy for doing jobs to build cash reserves and for fast experience gaining to level up quicker. The best one to choose when starting out would be the Maniacs characteristic for quicker energy gain which is probably one of the so called Mafia wars cheats..

MAFIA FRIENDS

Relationships are important for future jobs and for begging for weapons and gaining important items. The very best way to build friends is to visit the groups section and search for Mafia wars, loads of Mafia wars family building group pages appear and simply joining and placing a polite "add me, please" message on the groups wall will help grow your Mafia family this is again one of the well known Mafia wars cheats.

JOBS

When you first start out you are in New York the jobs are very scarce and some require certain weapons to be bought from the inventory section to actually do the jobs so gaining some cash at first to buy weapons is important, there are two ways to do this either start fights which helps build your bank balance and experience for levelling (will need a Mafia family of 10 or more for better chance of winning and will need to spend cash to regain health at the hospital), do the job increaser method i.e. do the mugging job till you have enough to buy crow bar, do corner store hold up till you got enough cash to buy .45 calibre pistol and so on this again builds your bank balance and experience points for levelling.

Any cash you don't spend always put it in the bank this will prevent enemy Mafia wars members fighting you in fights and taking your hard earned cash from you.

Once you open more jobs, then switch to doing the jobs that give the most experience points for the least job energy spent. In the early stages of levelling you will find that with this method you can advanced up levels very quickly indeed.

SPENDING CASH/BUYING PROPERTY

In the early stages it is best to spend your hard earned cash from jobs in the inventory on weapons, body armour and vehicles this helps to increase the defence and attack attributes of your whole gang and enables you to take on gangs that have more family members than you in fights taking more cash and experience and dealing bigger damage to them, be careful what equipment you buy at the start because the better equipment cost money to upkeep and its easy to find yourself going bankrupt.

Also its best to invest cash in buying land and properties this gives you income every three hours which will greatly help with your buying of weapons and counter-balancing the cost of upkeep for weapons you own, in the early stages your cash is very low, so its best to save up money doing jobs and bulk buy land and properties in bundles of 10. The best land and properties to buy at the beginning are 'Abandoned Lot' and 'Mafia Mikes' this will give you cash earning a nice boost.

Note only buy 500 of each equipment in weapons because past this point your defence and attack attributes no longer increase, so its a waste of money, also don't bother buying the speed boats as these are no benefit to you whatsoever.

LEVELLING AND PROFILE POINTS

Every time you level up your Mafia wars character attributes refill fully and you gain 5 profile points to strengthen the statistics of your Mafia wars character, you can add points to the six different attributes, Attack, Defence, Health, Energy, Stamina and Influence. At the beginning it is recommended to spend all the 5 profile points from levelling on the energy attribute to help you perform more jobs each level therefore gaining cash and experience to help levelling quicker.

Also you will notice when levelling more jobs become available for each level stage you are at e.g. between levels 1-4 only street thug jobs are available and 5-8 associate jobs and so on, In each job section each job has a blue levelling bar (three levels in total), once the blue bar is full that job level is reached and your are awarded a profile point. The best way to spend the points from completed jobs levels is on either strengthening your attack or defence attributes, this will help in fights and also when you are being attacked in defence.

As you play through Mafia Wars you will see that many jobs and achievements will give you valuable profile points, experience, weapons, items and most important the cash to buy available weapons and equipment to strengthen your Mafia family.

GODFATHER POINTS

Now Godfather Points are very useful, you will notice at the beginning that you will have some Godfather points to spend, well the best way to spend these points is to fully replenish your energy bar when exhausted which costs 10 Godfather points, the other items are just little luxuries which you may or may not want to purchase at a later date.

Notice you will gain 1 Godfather point for every two levels you gain, just save these up to 10 points and replenish your energy for faster levelling capabilities.

ENERGY PACKS

Every 23 hours you are usually sent an energy pack from your Mafia Family this will replenish the energy bar and add 25% to your energy attribute and is best to use when you have exhausted all your energy and stamina and still need 200 or more experience points in order to level up.

COLLECTIONS & VAULTS ALSO BEGGING

In the Mafia Wars game is Collections and Vault which is in the inventory section, this is another great way to gain energy advantages and again more items are available to collect as you continue to level up. In this area you will find various items to collect and vault which give you various benefits for example collecting and vaulting the diamond flush collection for the first time will give you 1 energy point and if you were to collect and re-vault again you would gain tripwires to help in defence, you can gain these items through loot that are found at jobs or if you've built a sizeable Mafia family then you can send item request out and hopefully your kind Mafia family will send them to you for free.

Note at the beginning it is best to try and vault collections that give you job energy loss discounts such as the heart flush collection this will give you +5 health the first time you vault and -3 job energy costs when you re-vault the collection, Others to look out for later on are the club flush collection, the cigars collection, the rings collection and the great horses collection. Others will become available to you once you have access to the Cuba and Moscow scenarios.

THE BIG TIP FOR NEW YORK JOBS

The most important item in the New York Job scenario and the rarest to get hold of is the 'untraceable mobile phone', you will notice that jobs in Capo job levels and above will require you to have this item to partake in one or two of the jobs and you will need loads of this item to successfully master the job levels. The only place you can get hold of 'untraceable mobile phones' is to do the 'Rob an Electronic Store' job in the Enforcer job level and what's worse is you have a 1 in 3 chance of successfully obtaining one each time you do the job. So my tip would be to waste several levels of job energy doing the 'Rob an Electronic Store' job and build up your 'untraceable mobile phone' stash to help with later jobs that require them and also doing this job will build up your stash of 'Concealable Camera' and 'Computer Set-Up'. You will also need the 'Concealable Camera' to help gain 'Blackmail Photos' which are also important for later level mastering.

The Truth Behind Mafia Wars Cheats

I like many other facebook or myspace users who like playing the game Mafia Wars have found an addictive and stimulating little game which helps build friendships and a sense of community in the form of helping out with jobs and also swapping crucial items within the game. When starting out it is very difficult to get going because everything is new and where to start to gain a solid footing in Mafia Wars can be very difficult, so people like myself resort to searching for mafia wars cheats through the various search engines to gain a good headstart when first playing the game.

Having searched for mafia wars cheats myself ive discovered there is no real quick fix mafia wars cheats available only carefully planned strategies to put in place when first choosing the right type of mafia characteristic, starting to do jobs, building your mafia family, effectively using energy, best thing to spend godfather points on and so on which in the long run is better than mafia wars cheats.

Finding Those Mafia Wars Cheats

Mafia Wars Cheats on both Facebook and Myspace are a bit of a myth, there are trainers and bots available for automatically doing jobs etc that will most certainly get your social networking account blocked and banned and anyway with a decent strategy guide to playing the game renders these Mafia Wars Cheats absolutely useless and where is the actual fun in cheating its not hard to build a successful mafia family and only requires minimum effort to gain the benefits.

Below as a alternative to Mafia Wars Cheats i give a few useful tips of the best tried and tested strategies i have used when starting out in the Mafia Wars gaming arena and I also provide a weblink to my website which has a product review on the best Mafia Wars Strategy guide called "Dominate Mafia Wars" and how purchasing the guide will help you with the more advanced ways of gaining further enjoyment from the game which are much like having mafia wars cheats.

Godfather Points With Surveys

One of the hardest things to build up quickly is Godfather points when playing Mafia Wars. You only get one point when you level up and will want to find other ways to build them up quickly. There is also the daily chance lottery but again that is just what it says, a chance. You can buy points from Zynga if you like but there is a free option.

Taking surveys is a great way to build up your Godfather points easily. It can be a little time consuming but the pay off is well worth it. If your going to take the surveys you will want to set up a seperate email acount for these surveys. Basically you will find your inbox flooded with emails once you have taken some surveys so keep this all in an email account just for surveys. This will help you keep from cluttering up your regular email account. There are plenty of free email services so just choose one and you will be ready to start building up those Godfather points in no time.

Remember the points are not applied to your account right away but you will see them in your account in a couple of ours to a couple of days. Zynga is very good about making sure you get your points. So if your looking for more Godfather points, go set up a new email address and start taking surveys now!

Mafia Wars Is On Tagged.com

To be honest I really never heard of Tagged until Mafia Wars. Tagged is another community like Myspace and facebook claiming over 70 million members. Well, with that many people you knew the Mafia was going to have to move in soon right. So now if your a Tagged member you can join in on all the fun that is Mafia Wars. All of the above tips and tricks will work for you and with it being a little newer to tagged then the other networks now is the time to build you mafia and take over on Tagged.

The only thing I have heard,I am not yet a member at Tagged, is that the game can be a bit buggy. This is always the case with a new release and rest assured Zynga will get things running smooth in no time. Mafia Wars did not become the success it is by not keeping things up to par for its gamers.

If your not a member of Tagged now would be a great time to stroll in and start building your mafia. As with everything the sooner you are in the better your position is in the long run and with the tips above you can take over in no time.

Welcome Tagged members to the Mafia ;)

Top 9 Tips To Success In Mafia Wars

Top 9 Tips To Success In Mafia Wars
1. Bank Your Money

This game is all about mobs and you could very easily end up losing money during fights. Your money is very much safer in a bank.

2. Strengthen Your Mafia Family

Recruit people who play this game almost every day. This will ensure that you are building a strong family. Help other members of your family and by doing this, you are also keeping your family strong.

3. Buy Properties

Work towards making more money and use this money to buy properties that will help you dominate games.

4. Get The Best Weapons

This will help you in defense and gain more attack points too.

5. Saving Energy Packs

They will come handy during times of emergencies.

6. Select The "Maniac" Class

In the Mafia Wars, energy is much valuable than money. Energy allows you to do missions, whereas money will not. This is a common mistake many players make when starting out. With the "Maniac" class, you won't have to worry about any energy issues anymore.

7. Be patient In Building Your List of Mafia Members

You will need some good planning before a successful mafia group is established. Start off by working independently till you are sufficiently ready. This is very much better for you in the later part of the game.

8. Use Your Experience Points On Energy

Do not waste your points around on Godfather points or any other useless items. That can be done in the later part of the game, however for present situation, it will only slow you down. Therefore, i would advise you to focus on "Energy" as it is the most important thing for you to level up quickly in the game.

9. Stay Away From Being On The "Hitlist"

This will prevent you from getting killed constantly by the higher level players. You can start this when you are on a higher level, however, you will only slow down your leveling if you start off at the present stage.

Mafia Wars Collections

What They Are
Mafia Wars collections are a group of seven items that are looted when completing jobs in a certain job tier. Different job tiers are unlocked as players level up. The higher the tier, the better the rewards and the better the collection.

Each tier has seven special items that can be looted and used to gain stat boosts and other gameplay advantages. The image below shows the seven items necessary to complete the Street Thug job tier collection.

How They Help
Mafia Wars collections are a great way for players to gain special boosts and advantages that are useful when completing jobs or fighting other mafias. The higher the tier collection, the better the boost will be. From additional stamina, to more energy, to a raised defense, all collections are designed to enhance your fighting capacity.

How To Get Collections
Collections can’t be bought. They may only be obtained by completing certain jobs in each job tier. You can view your collections by going to your inventory then clicking the collections tab. Once you have obtained all 7 items for each collection, click the Vault button to claim your boost.

It is also worth noting that collection items can be gifted. This means that if you have a large mafia, simply add an item to your wishlist and hopefully someone will send it to you.

Mafia Wars Moscow Guide - Part 1

Moscow is an expansion city which opens up at level 70, after that there are no level requirements for anything in Moscow. All items are buyable at level 70 and episodes (tiers) unlock after unlocking the finale in previous tier. All episodes have 3 chapters and a finale, you start with chapter 1 unlocked and after mastering it you unlock the next chapter and so on.

Moscow business differs from Cuba business in the way that Moscow Business has insanely good Return on Investment. It takes ~2 / 3 / 4 / 8 days to return investment from buying Moscow Business, respective to the order of buyable businesses. I.E. the first business has the best ROI. Fully upgraded Moscow business can get you almost 70 million rubles per day. That means ( if you take into account that pesos are worth 150 times more than rubles and fully upgraded Cuba business produces ~C$300,000 per day ) Moscow business produces (70M/300k/150 = 1.48) 48% more money in proportion to Cuba business. Also, in Cuba the ROI for business is 2-3 weeks. So in Moscow, buying all business and full upgrades is a very good idea.

All Moscow tiers/episodes follow a pretty straight forward format. The ratio for exp/energy in all jobs is pretty much the same, 1.70-1.82 for whole Moscow ignoring help jobs.

Chapter 1 in all episodes always has 2 normal jobs and 1 “help job”, which means that job can be completed for you by your mafia. That is the recommended way since mastering the help job on your own costs just as much energy as the rest of the episode combined.

Chapter 2 in all episodes always has the job to choose Vory or Mafiya, which when mastered locks that side for that mastery cycle and unlocks the chosen side’s jobs for that mastery cycle. The choice is permanent after third mastery for that episode. The two unlocked side-only jobs always include the job for consumables for the finale job and a job that drops loot unique to that side. These 2 unlocked jobs are the only difference between the sides, nothing past chapter 2 or before chapter 2 is affected by side choosing.

Chapter 3 in all episodes always has 2 normal jobs with relatively high energy costs and one job that drops loot.

Finale in all episodes always has 1 job that requires the consumables collected in chapter 2 and after the job is mastered it unlocks a boss in the finale. The boss requires no energy, it just requires you to call for help and one person in your mafia to see the request and help you and the boss is done. After that the episode mastery cycle is completed and the whole episode starts all over again from chapter 1 for the next mastery cycle until you have the episode mastered 3 times.

Each time you master an episode, the requirements for jobs change. The second cycle requirements are first cycle requirements doubled, and the third and final cycle requirements are first cycle requirements TRIPLED. That means Moscow is going to take a lot more money than you can make just from mastering jobs. Investment in the Moscow Business is extremely recommended and will make things a lot easier. You can also buy rubles with GF points, the amount you get depends on your level and the amount of business you currently own in Moscow. If you only own the taxi stand, you will get R$40,000 per level per 10 GF points. The amount increases by R$20,000 for each consecutive business owned per level per 10 GF points. When you own all businesses you get R$120,000 per level per 10 GF points.

For example level 500 character with all business would get 120,000 * 500 = 60 million rubles per 10 GF points, while 200 level character with only Taxi Stand would get 40,000*200 = 8 million rubles for 10 GF points. Very substantial difference, plan ahead before buying rubles with GF points for the best bang for your buck.

The rewards in mastering Moscow lie in the loot drops. Since the Mastery special item rewards are just like in Cuba and therefore completely useless, the real rewards are the skill points and increased loot drop chances. Moscow loot dropped in the later episodes is a huge upgrade over the best loot in Cuba and also way beyond most godfather loot as well.

The biggest difference compared to earlier cities is that in Moscow for each episode you have to choose between two sides, Vory and Mafiya. However, these decisions play far less role than you would think. Like explained above, the choice only affects one loot drop in chapter 2 of the episode. Nothing else is affected, fighting is still the same and you can’t get Moscow loot drops from fights no matter how you choose.

The choices for sides are covered later for each episode separately.

Mafia Wars Cuba Guide - Part 1

Cuba is an expansion city that opens up at level 35 and unlocks new jobs until level 185. Cuba uses different currency from New York and there is no way to transfer your New York dollars to Cuban pesos in the game. Cuba also has different business system from New York and the job mastery rewards are actually just normal combat loot and don’t give special bonuses to your character like in New York.

Since Cuba uses different currency from New York and requires consumables that are actually produced from businesses, it’s a smart move to start your business as soon as you open Cuba. Do not start mastering Cuba at such an early level though, as all energy spent in Cuba is energy not spent towards Golden Throne in New York.

All Cuban money producing business have a similar return on investment, whether you buy a single business or many with upgrades, they return your investment in about two weeks. The bribery ring business doesn’t produce money at all, it produces politico corruptos, a consumable that is exclusively used in Cuba and you need 1182 of them to fully master Cuba.

A feature that is only in Cuba is Bribe Money. This means for every buyable inventory item in Cuba your job money payouts get reduced by 0.5% and it caps at 80% payout reduction. For example, if you own 20 Rebel Snipers and 20 Machetes, you will get 20% less money from jobs. The bagman bonus (mogul class only) ignores the bribe penalty when it occurs.

Money really shouldn’t be a big problem in Cuba, unless you forgot to bank it and someone stole it before you managed to ice yourself. Even if you have nothing to begin with, you can do the job that doesn’t require any items to do and after you have mastered it you will have enough money to buy requirements for next job and the cycle continues.

All the Cuba job mastery reward items are actually just loot used in combat, that means the only real reward from Cuba are the relatively free skill points and higher drop rates on job loots when you have mastery. It has been claimed that the reward loot has some kind of magical bonus that other loot items don’t have but it hasn’t been proved. The rewards are single combat items that have stats worse or slightly better than normal items, yet you use up to 1503 items in a fight, not a noticeable difference.

Mafia Wars New York Guide - Part 1

New York is the most important city to master as soon as possible. Unlike Cuba and Moscow, the rewards for tier masteries give all around bonuses to your character, and the earlier these bonuses start rolling for your character, the stronger will your character be in the long run. The loot found in New York jobs is pretty bad compared to Cuba and Moscow, however.

New York has one special job, a boss fight, for each of the first four tiers. Boss fights will award exp depending on your max energy. They will give MaxEnergy / 2 amount of exp when killed for the first time, and (MaxEnergy / 5)*1.4 for consecutive kills so a smart move would be to save the boss fights for later levels when the exp really counts.

All numbers assume 11% mastermind, -11% wheelman, 15% bagman and private island (5% exp).

Street Thug (Fully unlocked by level 4)
Total energy to master first time: 197
Total energy to master second time: 225
Total energy to master third time: 260
Total energy to master fully: 682
Best exp payout job: ‘Auto Theft’, 1.333 exp/energy
Best money payout job: ‘Collect on a Loan’, $1140/Energy
Special item reward for full mastery: Pistol Bayonet, +4% damage dealt in fights
Collections: Diamond Flush, +1 Energy

The total energy cost for mastering Street Thug is so low that the minimal effort is worth it for the 21 skill points alone. The special item reward is also essential for people who want to collect bounties on the hitlist. Most jobs in this tier pay 1 exp per 1 energy spent, which is fine for the very early levels but will hurt you at later levels if neglected.

Money payouts are nothing to write home about but the money gained doing jobs is more than enough to buy the required items to do all the jobs.

Associate (Opened at level 5, fully unlocked by level 8 )
Total energy to master first time: 340
Total energy to master second time: 371
Total energy to master third time: 437
Total energy to master fully: 1148
Best exp payout job: ‘Bank Heist’, 1.875 exp/energy
Best money payout job: ‘Rough Up Dealers’, $639/Energy
Special item reward for full mastery: Roadster, -7% damage taken in fights
Collections: Heart Flush, +5 health

Like street thug, associate tier is a low energy cost tier and that means more effortless skill points. Associate tier also offers a very good exp/energy ratio job ‘Bank Heist’ which can be used in the early levels for fast level ups. The money payouts are interestingly a lot lower than in Street Thug, the best paying job in Street Thug is almost twice as much money per energy than the best paying job in Associate.

The reward for associate is much better than most people think, less damage taken means much better hitlist rides and more fights done with a full health bar. Like Street Thug, try to get this tier mastered as soon as possible.

Soldier (Opened at level 9, fully unlocked by level 12 )
Total energy to master first time: 494
Total energy to master second time: 549
Total energy to master third time: 642
Total energy to master fully: 1685
Best exp payout job: ‘Clip the Irish Mob's Local Enforcer’, 1.625 exp/energy
Best money payout job: ‘Museum Break-in’, $3420/Energy
Special item reward for full mastery: Golden Skull, -30 seconds health regeneration timer
Collections: Boxing Gear, +3 attack skill; Club Flush, +3 attack skill; Sculptures , +3 defense skill ;Poker Chips, +2 attack skill

Soldier tier has the most amount of different collections available. You will not get all these collections just from mastering the tier and they might take a lot of farming even after mastering the tier, I would suggest trading for the missing collection pieces.

The tier mastery reward is completely worthless as health is refilled fully in hospital and hospital can be used every 60 seconds. However, soldier tier still awards 21 skill points for a very low amount of energy spent mastering it, so for that reason it should be mastered as early as possible. Many of the jobs are still 1:1 exp/energy ratio and the earlier tiers have higher priority so when you start mastering soldier these ratios will sting a bit.

Mafia Wars Strategy - Usin' Skill Points

When you first start your journey into a wild life of crime you have the following skills:

1 Attack
1 Defense
100 Health
10 Energy
3 Stamina
Every time you gain a level, you get 5 more skill points to spend. The introductory sequence to the game causes you to jump to level 2 and you will immediately find yourself with some skill points to assign to these skills. Google search queries indicate that a fair number of people are searching for some answers over how to use these skill points and what exactly they mean in the context of developing your mafia.

The skill breakdown

Attack
Your attack skill has two main uses. When you initiate an attack (whether through Fight, Rob, or attempting a Hit), your total attack value is compared to your defender's total defense value. Your attack value also has a minor impact on the amount of damage you cause whether attacking or defending.

Fightin' and Robbin' gets into more details over how the fight rolls are actually made, but here is a quick summary. For your mafia size, X, the game chooses your X best items with the highest attack value, X best armors, and X best vehicles. Outside of special loot items and before level 100, this means a Chain Gun at 16/14, a Body Armor at 4/7, and a Town Car at 10/12. So roughly every member of your family (assuming you have enough items for all of them) will add 30 attack and 33 defense. So 6 levels worth of skill points in attack is the equivalent of bumping your mafia size by 1 (whether through real people or the Godfather hired guns). Once your level is above 150 and a lot of your opponents will have a mafia size of 501, attack points can be useful. At low levels, it is a complete waste and dwarfed by your mafia size.

Defense
Defense works the same way as attack except it doesn't seem to have an affect on damage other than as a point of comparison to your opponent's health. Now since property robberies are limited by your level as far as the number of mafia that can be brought, having extra defense points will help defend your properties assuming that your mafia size is at least equal to your level. Once again though, at higher levels this becomes way more meaningful.

Health
Health is the most meaningless of attributes to dump skill points in to. You can go to the hospital and completely refill your health every 45 seconds. If you are getting attacked by other players, unless it is from a hit, they can no longer hurt you once your health drops below 20. The only place where more health helps rather than hurts is in the boss fights in the game, as outlined in Doin' the Job, but as there is no special reward for completing the boss fights and there are bonus items you get from doing jobs to make the boss fights easier, you don't need more health. Finally, most of the time you are logged in, you will be wanting to keep your health as low as possible to minimize the number of fights lost, so it is highly recommended you never bump your health.

It may seems a high health will help you survive better if someone puts a hit on you, since if your health was high enough, you could heal every 45 seconds and never be knocked out. The problem with this theory is the hit never goes away until it is completed. You will have to sleep eventually and then that huge pool of health will just turn into a huge number of lost fights before you are inevitably knocked out. Since there is no defense from a hit and no way to get it cancelled, you are better off just dying in as few fights as possible so the hit gets cleared and you are back in the "protected" health range of 0-19.

Energy
Energy is currently the bread and butter of leveling, generating more skill points, and collecting special bonuses. Later in this section of the strategy guide, a plan is outlined for sinking every skill point you get into just energy and what this gains you (and costs you). Even if you don't want to go a pure energy route, it is highly recommended at least 40% of your skill points be allocated to energy. Unless more changes come in to the game to reward the other attributes more, by far the biggest bang for the buck in terms of money, items, and levels all come from a skill point assigned to energy. Finally, different jobs require more and more energy to do. You will not be able to complete all the jobs unless your energy is at least at 60 (not counting Top Mafia bonuses and the Energy Pack 25% bonus).

Stamina
Stamina is perhaps the single attribute with the most variation on its importance based off of a given player's play style. It takes two skill points to boost your stamina just one point, but to judge the relative effectiveness of that skill point usage, let's take a breakdown on how it can be used.

Unless you are a Maniac, stamina will regenerate at the same rate as your energy, 1 every 5 minutes. The core difference between the two is that to do anything with stamina, you only need to spend 1 point, where as jobs will keep taking an ever increasing amount of skill points. If you are only attacking people you will beat in fights, a single point of stamina will average you around 2.5 XP where as a single point of energy will average you about 1.7 XP. Of course, since the stamina cost 2 skill points, the energy boost was still more efficient. The difference is, you can generate special loot items much faster with fighting than doing jobs.

If you are excited about being a hitman for other mob families and you don't care that they almost never pay enough to be worth it, you will need more stamina in order to attack someone the 2-15 times in a row that will be necessary to knock them out solo.

The basic recommendation is keep your stamina just high enough that you fully leverage the regeneration timer unless you don't want to fight others at all. For example, if you play off and on throughout the day, 12-24 stamina means you can check on the game every hour or two while you are awake and not lose out on fight opportunities. If you only check the game twice a day and still want to fight a lot, 144 Stamina may be worth it to you. There is no real benefit to increasing it anymore than that though and most players will never really miss out if they just leave it at the initial 3.

Generating mad skillz… points
We have talked about the fact you get 5 skill points every time you gain a level, but there are two other ways to generate skill points as well. Every time you complete a new mastery level of one of the jobs, you are awarded a new skill point. You can also go to the Godfather) to purchase 4 skill points for reward points. This is probably one of the best uses of reward points.

When looking to maximize your gain of the skill points from job mastery, there are two things to consider: Different jobs complete at different rates and cost different amounts of energy. So "Ransom a Business Man's Kid" costs 54 energy to do, but will provide 10% job mastery per attempt. "Steal an Arms Shipment" costs 40 energy to perform, but it only advances 6% job mastery per attempt. All and all, this means it is 540 energy to unlock a skill point with the first job, and even though the second job takes 14 energy less per attempt, it is 680 total energy to master and get a new skill point. Look for detailed charts in Doin' the Job for a breakdown of exactly how much energy each job takes to master. Since you need to master all the jobs in a given category at a level to unlock the next mastery level, it won't matter too much what order you do them in. A good rule of thumb is just to work from the lowest level jobs up to the highest and do the jobs that take the most energy per attempt first.

The Energy speed leveling strategy
If you have ever min/max-ed a character in a different RPG game, this strategy will come as no big surprise to you. The general idea behind the phrase "min/max" is that there is a benefit to be gained by focusing solely on one or two given stats that comprise your character and ignoring all the others with the goal of the benefit from the maximized attributes outweighs the detriment of the minimized ones.

Spending the Skill Points
For Mafia Wars, this means spending every skill point in just Energy, maximizing the rate you get new skill points, and speed the recovery of your energy. Since you can get an Energy Pack every 24 hours from your mafia, regardless of your regeneration rate, you will be able to spend 125% of your energy each day, plus however much you naturally got back. Also, every time you level, your energy is reset to your max amount. The basic idea is to try to keep your energy pool so high that by the time you have spent all your energy, you level and it all comes back to spend again.

Character Type influence
There are a couple of other interesting facts to keep in mind when maximizing this strategy. If you are a Maniac character type, your Energy will come back at 1 every 3 minutes instead of 5. This means that outside of your full refills, you will have 480 energy coming back a day to spend instead of the 288 someone with a different character type will have. Also, you can use the Godfather to get a full refill which can be worth it if your leveling has stalled out.

Leveraging XP spill-over
To maximize the efficiency with which you are completing jobs it is worth noting it is almost always beneficial to complete the job mastery levels since this will get you more skill points. There was a brief period where "Exterminate a Rival Family" provided more than 2 XP per energy with Top Mafia bonuses and it was more worthwhile to just do that job over and over again, but that was rebalanced. Also, when you level, any extra XP you earn is rolled over into the next level. This means the ideal situation is to get 1 XP shy of leveling and then do a job that provides the most XP for you last so you get the most spill-over into the next level. For instance, at level 4, you could do "Mugging" until you are at 44/45 and then do "Auto Theft" which would push you 7 XP into level 5 with a full energy refill.

Top Mafia bonuses and Energy leveling
Your Top Mafia Mastermind and Wheelman also can greatly impact the speed at which you level based on energy. You get a bonus to the amount of XP you get per job based on the number of jobs your Top Mafia Mastermind has completed. Your Wheelman, the highest level Fearless member of your mafia, will give you a reduction on the amount of energy it takes to do the job. Similarly, if you are the Mastermind for one of your friends, you will sometimes get a 50% bonus to the XP you earn per job you do and if you are one of your friend's Wheelman, you will sometimes have a job you complete cost 0 energy. Here are some estimates on what bonus you will get depending on your friends, we will continue to refine them as more information comes in.

Jobs Completed XP Bonus
0 - 19 1%
20 - 99 2%
100 - 499 3%
500 - 999 4%

Bonus items to Energy and Energy regeneration
Several of the collections available from the various job tiers will yield additional energy to spend. Likewise, whenever you master all three levels of job mastery for a given job tier, you will receive a special bonus item. Several of these items will help speed up your leveling even further. For collections, we have the following:

Job Tier Collection Bonus
Street Thug Diamond Flush +1 Energy
Enforcer Cigars +2 Energy
Capo Paintings +6 Energy
Consigliere Great Race Horses +7 Energy

Since the Capo tier doesn't fully unlock until level 34 and the Consigliere tier doesn't until level 55, early on you are better off asking your higher level friends to see if they have an extra set of the collections floating around. It takes more total jobs to finish these later tiers than the early ones, so it is quite likely there are full sets available for someone to send you. Doin' the Job has more exact details.

To use the new wishlist feature you either need to have unlocked the job tier for the items you want or you need to have received at least one of the items. Once the collection shows up in your Inventory tab, you can then click on the button with the green plus sign to add that item to your wishlist. Click on "Share Wishlist with your Friends" and everyone in your mafia will get a notice of which items you need. Once you receive an item you need, be sure to come back to the Inventory tab to remove that item from your wishlist. Your friends will see how many you currently have, but they won't know if one of your other friends sent you what you need.

For the bonus items from completing job tiers, there are three that will help speed up your leveling the most. For this reason, as soon as you have these job tiers unlocked, it is worthwhile to try to master them as quickly as possible.

Job Tier Fully Unlocked Item Bonus
Consigliere 55 Helicopter a 30 second reduction on your energy regen timer
Underboss 95 Private Island 5% bonus on job experience
Boss Golden Throne 2x energy regenerated per regen period

Getting Started on Mafia Wars

Welcome to the gang ridden world of Mafia Wars. If you are already playing the game and just looking for specific tips, browse the list of articles in the guide on the left to find the information you are looking for. For the rest of you, you probably have gotten a request to play from one of your friends, followed by e-mails, phone calls, text messages, and a horse head in your bed till you finally agreed to play. Here you should find all the basics you need to get started and get your own personal Family going.

A brief introduction
The game is broken into a few key objectives. There is a level based system that rewards you and your friends for your continued growth in levels. There is an economic engine that rewards you for making smart choices and converting as much of your earned income into passive income as possible. There is also a social networking aspect that rewards you for having more and more friends playing with you, whether it is from signing up the friends you already have or making new friends who are already playing. The game is fun, addictive, and best of all can be played well with a minimum daily investment of time.

Your first time in
When you log in for the very first time, there will be a little spiel to get you excited, a picture of your first property – Uncle Louie’s Deli – and a bar with your initial stats. These stats are what you will spend most of your time tracking.

Cash
Every hour your properties will pay out and any items you have with maintenance costs will deduct from your earnings. On the Properties tab which you will see later you can always see how much you are making and how much it is costing you. See the Property Moguls section of the guide for a better breakdown on earned vs. passive income and how to maximize this. It is also worth noting you have a bank account that you can store money in, but any money in the bank will not be reflected here.

Health
This is a fairly meaningless stat and it is the only naturally replenishing stat that the game will not show you a timer on. It is critical in boss fights which are outlined in great detail in the Doin’ the Job section. Other than that, it just sets the amount of times you get attacked when a hit is put out on you and how many fights you can engage in before healing.

Energy
Energy is the principal source of your earned income and a large chunk of your XP. It will come back 1 point every 5 minutes. Doin’ the Job will give you a thorough breakdown on leveraging your energy as well as discussing the speed leveling technique utilizing energy. Jobs and items will be your initial focus once you get in to the game.

Stamina
This also regenerates at one point every 5 minutes. Stamina is used to try to attack other players, rob other players, cash in on a hit on another player, sucker punching, and placing hits on other players. Fightin’ and Robbin’ will get in to all the specifics of how you can leverage your stamina, win more fights, get robbed less often and all those great details. Outside of jobs, this is the only other way to generate XP.

Do Something About It!
The game will walk you through a simple series of examples of what the game contains once you are completely free to make your own choices. The first job is exactly what most will be about… You spend X energy for Y experience, some amount of money, and with some jobs, a small chance at special loot. Enjoy this first one as you will never get 2 or more experience per energy later in the game. And congratulations! You got a loot item and a dummy NPC to invite in to your mob to get to size 1! We will talk more about Mafia size later and the Fightin’ and Robbin’ section has a lot more to say. Next you will make your first attack and then buy your first property and the first real decision comes in to play.

Choosing your Character type
You can change your name later, but there will be a fairly hefty cost, so think about how you would like your Mafioso name to be. "Don" plus your last name works well and the game supports multiple people with the same name. Default Don is the most common name out there followed by all the characters from the Godfather. The more unique and memorable your name, the more thematic some of the in game text will be for your friends. As for character type, here is a break down on what the choice entails. Currently, there is no way to change it once you make it, so consider carefully.

Mogul
As a Mogul your cash flow will come in every 54 minutes rather than every hour for the other character types. As a Mogul you are also the only character type eligible for being a Bagman. As a Bagman in one of your friend’s Top Mafia, you have the change to get double money from performing jobs. Since we want to be generating passive income rather than earned and there is no real use for money anymore once you get to around level 40, this is the least interesting of the character types unless your friend group happens to need more eligible Bagmen options.

Maniac
As a Maniac, your energy regenerates at a rate of 1 every 3 minutes instead of 5. You also become eligible to be a Button Man which gives you a chance to automatically win any fight you initiate. General consensus on the web before the Top Mafia changes was this was the best type to choose since energy drives a lot of your leveling. The flip side to this is if you are speed leveling, you are counting more on the energy refills from leveling up and Energy Paks than from natural regeneration. The special Top Mafia ability is not very exciting as we will only be initiating fights we expect to win anyway. Basically, it boils down to out of the 5-10% of fight you will lose to Critical hits, you will win about 5% of them instead.

Fearless
As a Fearless character your health regenerates at a faster rate. You also have the ability to be a Top Mafia Wheel Man which has the best special ability. Whenever you perform a job, there is a small chance that job will cost no energy. Since at higher levels jobs can cost as much as 60 energy to run, this is a very non-trivial bonus and will greatly aid the speed at which you level. The health regeneration itself is not a very meaningful bonus since using the hospital to top off at any point in time is a non-issue.

Your initial Skill Points
After you make your decision, you will get your first skill points to spend. It is highly recommended you just upgrade your Energy till at least 30 before touching the other stats. See the speed leveling section under Doin’ the Job for more details on spending your initial skill points.

Starting over or... not

Unfortunately, the game currently does not really support anyway for starting over. If you are unhappy with your initial choices, you have to delete the application, wait 60 days for it to time out, and then log in again to get a clean start in the Mafia world. None of the choices you make outside of character type though can't be fixed, so we recommend you try to work with whatever state you are currently in. If you do wish to delete the app and wait 60 days, in the lower left hand corner of any Facebook page you should see a button labelled Applications. Click on it to open the menu and near the top of the menu you will see Edit. Choose this and then click on the x next to Mafia Wars to remove it as one of your applications.
